Overcast skies, rains expected in Luzon on Saturday — Pagasa

(Satellite image from Pagasa) MANILA, Philippines — Gloomy skies with rains may affect some areas in Luzon due to the trough of the low-pressure area (LPA) off Southwestern Luzon and the southwest monsoon, or habagat, the state weather bureau said. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported in the 5 a.m. weather advisory that the extension of the LPA outside the Philippine area of responsibility may bring scattered rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya. It has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. “Gayunpaman, hindi naman natin inaasahan yung pagpasok na ito sa ating Philippine Area of Responsibility. Wala din naman itong direct effects sa anumang parte ng ating bansa,” Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres said. (“However, we did not expect it to enter our Philippine Area of Responsibility.
