One killed, seven injured after car rams into autorickshaw in Annamayya district

One person was killed on the spot, and seven others were grievously injured when a speeding car rammed into the back of an autorickshaw near Piler in Annamayya district on Monday.The accident took place around noon near Nagiri village in Vepulabailu panchayat of Piler mandal. Police said the autorickshaw was on its way to Piler from Kalikiri, carrying passengers, when a car travelling from Bengaluru to Tirupati hit it from behind at high speed.The deceased was identified as Damodar (47), a passenger in the autorickshaw. The seven injured passengers were immediately shifted to the government hospital in Piler by police and locals. Two of them, who sustained critical injuries, were later referred to SVRR Government General Hospital in Tirupati.Meanwhile, Piler police rushed to the spot, cleared the wreckage, and restored traffic movement on the route.
