Hyatt members report getting a single suite upgrade award applied across separate hotel reservations, including consecutive nights booked through Chase’s The Edit and American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts. A concierge worked with the hotel to keep the guest in a suite for the whole stay. That’s useful when hotel credits push you into booking one trip in pieces. You don’t want to use another upgrade certificate just because the payment went through a different website. It’s also useful when you’re not sure how a long an award stay is going to be and so you book it in pieces, making it easier to shorten later in either direction (especially if you’re booking it before a hotel goes up in points). In a July 26 FlyerTalk discussion, one guest had their concierge upgrade three consecutive Fine Hotels + Resorts reservations. The bookings remained separate. Two days later, another member (and sometime commenter here) reported a more interesting combination: two nights through The Edit, followed by one through Fine Hotels + Resorts. Their concierge couldn’t combine the bookings, naturally, but contacted the hotel and confirmed the suite for all three nights. Hyatt’s published terms allow a complimentary suite upgrade award on eligible paid nights and qualifying points redemptions, for up to seven consecutive nights. The designated standard suite has to be available for the entire stay. Here, Hyatt contacts the hotel, asks it to block the suite across the dates, and manually deducts the award. A 2023 report from The Seabird in Oceanside describes one award applied across a Fine Hotels + Resorts booking and a separate direct reservation, too. But a March 8 report on US Card Forum describes an agent first applying the wrong award, then refusing to handle three separate Fine Hotels + Resorts confirmations. Customer service isn’t always good, and hang up call back remains a rule. Here’s the request: I have consecutive reservations at the same hotel, totaling [number] nights. Can you work with the property to confirm the same standard suite across all of them using one suite upgrade award, while keeping the original bookings intact? I’ve written about Hyatt making suite upgrades bookable online. I also explained why I often used Twitter customer service: applying an upgrade sometimes required someone to contact the hotel and block the room. My last two twitter requests when unresponded to, and I’m rarely booking a rate that can be confirmed online. The original poster wanted three points nights plus two separate Amex Hotel Collection reservations at the Hyatt Regency London–The Churchill. Amex treats consecutive reservations as one stay for hotel-program benefits, including when different cardmembers travel together. Three Fine Hotels + Resorts confirmation numbers don’t entitle you to three $100 property credits, but you can use more than one Amex credit against the stay as separate bookings. Topics on this page
