One dead after Auckland house fire

One person has been located dead by police following a house fire in Henderson.Emergency services were called to Forest Hill Road about 8.40pm on Saturday.On Sunday police confirmed one person has died.Acting Detective Senior Sergeant James Kim said a scene guard was put in place at the property overnight."The cause of the fire remains unexplained at this early stage."Police will be carrying out a scene examination at the house today, including working with fire investigators.Members of the community may see an increased presence while enquiries continue, he said.The house in Henderson Valley was well ablaze when crews arrived at the scene last night.At its peak up to 35 firefighters were fighting the blaze, which broke out at around 8.30pm last night.Shift manager Garreth Lewis said the house was totally ablaze when crews arrived.Six trucks, as well as one command unit and one hazardous materials unit, were sent to the scene.Lewis said crews were searching for the person, along with fighting the fire.The police and two ambulances also attended.
