Oman companies explore Russian market for export

Moscow: The participation of 16 Omani companies in the WorldFood Moscow 2026 exhibition is providing opportunities to promote national products, explore new export channels and build commercial partnerships in the Russian and wider Eurasian markets. Hamoud Salim Al Tuwaih, Oman’s accredited Ambassador to the Russian Federation, said the Russian market offers promising prospects for Omani products, while specialised international exhibitions provide an important platform for connecting exporters with importers, distributors and potential investors. He noted that the 35th edition of the exhibition features more than 1,100 exhibitors from over 30 countries and 60 Russian regions, giving Omani companies an opportunity to assess market demand and develop trade relations into sustainable partnerships and export agreements. Al Tuwaih said Russia’s importance extends beyond its domestic consumer market, describing it as a potential gateway to wider markets in Eurasia and Central Asia. He added that expanding into such markets supports Oman Vision 2040 objectives related to economic diversification, development of non-oil sectors and enhancing the competitiveness of national products. The ambassador stressed that participation in international exhibitions goes beyond displaying products, allowing companies to understand consumer and importer requirements, pricing, packaging and applicable technical and health standards. Such direct engagement can help Omani companies adapt products to target markets and strengthen their competitiveness. He said the exhibition also provides small and medium enterprises with access to importers, distributors and potential partners who may otherwise be difficult to reach through traditional marketing channels, creating opportunities for expansion beyond the domestic market. Al Tuwaih highlighted the role of the Omani Embassy in Moscow in supporting companies seeking to enter the Russian market. This includes providing information on market characteristics, facilitating contacts with importers and distributors, supporting bilateral meetings and helping establish networks between the private sectors of Oman and Russia. He said the embassy coordinates with relevant authorities in Oman to promote the country’s economic and investment potential and identify opportunities to increase trade and investment exchanges between the two countries. The ambassador also identified food security, food manufacturing, agriculture, storage, logistics and re-export as areas offering scope for expanding Oman-Russia economic cooperation. Russia’s production capabilities in grains and agricultural and food products could complement Oman’s strategic location, ports and logistics infrastructure. He said cooperation could therefore extend beyond conventional exports and imports to include investment and partnerships in production, manufacturing, storage, distribution and re-export. Oman’s geographical position and port network could also provide opportunities to serve markets across the region. Al Tuwaih urged Omani companies to view participation in international exhibitions as part of a long-term strategy, following up on contacts made during such events and converting them into sustainable commercial relationships. He expressed hope that the Omani participation in Moscow would translate into new export channels, partnerships and distribution networks, including opportunities in Central Asian markets. The ambassador affirmed that the Omani Embassy in Russia will continue supporting national companies, connecting them with potential partners and highlighting available trade and investment opportunities to strengthen economic relations and expand the presence of Omani products in international markets.
