Oklahoma State pulls off massive upset over the Oregon Ducks in home opener

A week later, Morris and Oklahoma State pick up perhaps the biggest non-conference victory in years with a 39-31 victory over No. 6 Oregon in Stillwater, OK on Saturday. The Cowboys’ win snapped two massive losing streaks, a 12-game losing streak dating back to last season, and a 21-game losing streak to FBS opponents, both the longest active streaks in FBS entering Saturday’s action. Oregon quarterback and Heisman contender Dante Moore had a game to forget against the Pokes, completing 14 of 29 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns. However, the Ducks biggest problem was containing a Cowboy offense that managed to score 10 points in its season opener. Oklahoma State’s offense caught fire and never let up, getting over 550 yards of total offense, compared to Oregon’s 281 yards. Cowboys quarterback Drew Mestemaker lit up the scoreboard with over 400 yards of total offense, paired with two passing touchdowns, and a rushing score.
