NewsWorld News A NURSE has been jailed after stabbing her disabled daughter 96 times in a horrifying attempted murder-suicide, cops say. Mum Sarka P was driven to kill her eight-year-old out of “desperation” over her care, the Prague High Court heard. The little girl was found dead in the family apartment last year Credit: Alamy During the trial, the nurse chillingly confessed that she could only remember the first four wounds of her stabbing frenzy. But prosecutors say the girl was knifed 96 times with a 20cm long kitchen knife while she tried to fight back – reportedly attempting to snatch the knife from her mother. Police raced to the family apartment in October last year – and found the child dead and the mother unconscious and “seriously injured” according to emergency service spokeswoman Monika Nováková. Sarka P had already swallowed pills in an attempted suicide – before reportedly deciding to end her daughter’s life alongside her own, the court heard. Harrowing testimony from the mum recalls the final terrifying moments of her daughter’s life. “She looked at me and noticed that I was holding a knife in my hand”, Sarka P told the court. “She started to stand up and stretched out her arms towards me. She wanted to hug me. So I hugged her. “I said that we would leave together, that I would not leave her here to her fate. With her gestures, she indicated to me that she wanted to take the stuffed animals with her, with tears in her eyes I told her yes.” Most read in The Sun The horror unfolded after Sarka P found out that her daughter was struggling in school, would need more care and would also be moved to a class for children with learning disabilities. The revelation reportedly tipped her over the edge as she told the court that she lived alone without the help of the girl’s father. She told the court: “I stopped going to social events to take care of her.” Her lawyers argued that she was exhausted and desperate – and that the notice from the school was the final trigger. The mum says she cannot believe she attacked her daughter so many times – and does not remember the brutal murder. But prosecutor Zagarová slammed the nurse, saying: “She was angry that she had extra work to do.” Zagarová also doubted the alleged memory loss – claiming it was a tactic to get a lighter sentence. Experts in court stated the nurse did not have a mental disorder – but that she was “emotionally unstable”, reported to Czech paper Denik. “The motive was a combination of frustration and helplessness,” said the expert, who was not named in the report. The mum pleaded guilty in court – and was handed an 18 year prison sentence. Comment now
