Nikki Nair Announces New EP Majestic Animals: Hear “Groundhogs”

Over the last few years, Atlanta-based dance producer Nikki Nair has collaborated with people like Hudson Mohawke and the Avalanches. A couple of months ago, he released an EP called The Sick Dimension on dh2, George Daniel's dance-focused Dirty Hit imprint. Now, he's getting ready to release another EP on a different label.Next week, Nair will release his new EP Majestic Animals on the London label Hyperdub. It's his first solo release on Hyperdub, though he and Japanese producer Foodman released the collaborative record Nagoya on the same label label last year. All the tracks on Majestic Animals are named after different animals. In the Bandcamp description, Nair says, "I think this record is good to listen to while seeing animals, and I was thinking about these animals while making the music. Animals are beautiful and mysterious, and I was likely thinking about this while writing this."Opening track "Groundhogs" is a madly springy instrumental with drums sounds that feel like they're erupting at you from all sides.
