(AP Photo/David Zalubowski)APFree agent linebacker Xavier Thomas has been suspended by the NFL for the first three weeks of this season, according to reports.The NFL did not specify what prompted Thomas’ suspension, which was announced Friday.Thomas was released by the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 26, two days after he was placed on the team’s injured reserve list. He previously was released by the Houston Texans in May after he signed with the team in January.Thomas, 26, played his first two NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals from 2024-25. He was drafted out of Clemson by the Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.In 18 career games, Thomas has 10 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one pass deflected.At Clemson, Thomas was twice selected to Third-Team All-ACC in 2019 and 2021.
