The third season of Prime Video's hit fantasy series will finally introduce a major member of Isildur's family. The upcoming chapter will bring Anárion into the story after the character was mentioned but never appeared during the first two seasons. Andrew Richardson will portray the younger son of Elendil (Lloyd Owen) and brother of Isildur (Maxim Baldry) and Eärien (Ema Horvath), expanding the show's exploration of one of Middle-earth's most important families. Although Anárion has been absent from the series until now, his family has a ton of grief, particularly as political tensions have escalated in Númenor. Elendil's loyalty to Queen Regent Míriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) has pitted him against the kingdom's leadership. Meanwhile, Eärien has joined forces with Pharazôn (Trystan Gravelle), making things even more complicated. Now that Anárion is finally in the picture, Rings of Power season 3 will have an opportunity to explore how these conflicts have affected another member of the family. In an interview with TV Insider, Richardson discussed Anárion's role in Rings of Power season 3 and what matters most to him. The actor explained that the character's devotion extends to both his relatives and his soldiers. However, despite his commitment to those around him, Anárion also feels a lot of regret about the time he has spent away from his siblings. Richardson reveals that what Anárion regrets the most is missing out on years of his siblings' lives after leaving Númenor. He explained that the character is desperate to reconnect with Eärien, implying that Anárion could potentially let a lot of things slide despite the fact that it may go against everything that he believes in. Additionally, the actor said that Anárion is a very forgiving person, especially when it comes to those closest to him. He further elaborated, stating that one of his character's biggest goals is to make up for lost time. Richardson's comments provide a clearer picture of how Anárion might fit into Rings of Power season 3. While Elendil and Isildur have already gone through major developments, Anárion's introduction adds another element to the family's constant conflict. During Rings of Power season 2, Eärien got more involved with Pharazôn, creating more tension between her and Elendil. Her decisions placed her on a different path from her father. Richardson's comments could mean that Anárion could forgive his sister more easily than most. However, it remains unclear how their relationship will develop once they reunite.
