A busybody councillor dubbed the 'new Cycling Mikey' has been suspended after he refused to remove a video taken outside a primary school over 'safeguarding concerns'.Liberal Democrat Adrian Chapmanlaw has been labelled by his constituents as a more aggressive and 'swearier' version of the notorious helmet-cam cyclist whose war on motorists has led to thousands of pounds in fines.Mr Chapmanlaw shares his videos on his Facebook and YouTube accounts under the name Dorset Safer Roads and has bragged of catching more than 80 motorists in his one-man crusade against drivers in his hometown of Bournemouth, Dorset. On Saturday, the councillor cycled past Manorside Academy in Poole, Dorset, at drop-off time with his helmet-mounted camera on record. He later shared a video on social media of a taxi parked on zig-zag lines outside the school gates, as a number of children and parents can be seen walking on the pavement in the background. The school pleaded with Mr Chapmanlaw to remove the footage, claiming children could be identified, which could lead to safeguarding issues. In a comment on his Facebook post, a spokesperson for Manorside Academy wrote: 'We have been unable to message you privately. Can we ask you to please take this video down as children and families faces are not blurred and this causes safeguarding concerns.'Unbowed by the concerns of the school, the councillor boldly hit back, claiming that 'no one is identifiable' and refused to take the video down. Vigilante cylist Adrian Chapmanlaw has been suspended by the Liberal Democrats over a video taken outside a schoolHe suggested the 'unfounded complaint' from the school had been motivated by angry parents who had been caught parking on the zig zags.He urged the school to do more to stop parents parking illegally and claimed the complaint was 'just another tactic' to stop him from reporting bad drivers. A spokesperson for the school said his stance puts pupils at risk and caused distress to parents. They said: 'Safeguarding is our priority and we will always take the necessary steps to keep our pupils safe.'We have asked the councillor to remove the photos in order to protect our pupils.'His refusal to do so puts our pupils at risk which is causing significant concern and distress to our families.'Mr Chapmanlaw's response to the school led to criticism from fellow councillors.Simon Wilson, of the campaign group BCP & Dorset Motorists, said: 'This is a disgrace. A serving Liberal Democrat councillor has openly refused a school's safeguarding request and pushed the video out again.'Nobody is defending parking on zig-zags but when a school's safeguarding lead asks for footage of its children to come down, the answer should be 'done', not an argument about pixels and an accusation against parents.'Whether a child can be identified is for the school and the parents to judge, not the person who filmed them.'On Tuesday, he was suspended by the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Liberal Democrats. In a statement, Lib Dem leader Millie Earl said: 'As a council group, we take safeguarding concerns raised by our partners very seriously.'I have therefore suspended Councillor Chapmanlaw from the Liberal Democrat Group until the council's standards procedure has been concluded.'In line with our Standing Orders, we will then consider what further action should be taken.'Mr Chapmanlaw reacted in fury to his suspension, describing the decision as 'complete cow excrement' and refused to apologise or remove the video. He wrote: 'This is what happens when you take a stand and try to make a difference. Kids die outside of schools, I am merely trying to protect them using the legal systems available to me.'People try to tear you down. Even people who are supposed to be your friends will throw you under the bus rather than support.'The complaint is complete cow excrement. there was no "safeguarding issue" anybody with eyes can see that.'I find this action completely disgusting, I am currently considering my options.'It is not the first time the councillor has faced criticism over filming outside a school.Last year, he said he 'regretted any alarm caused' after another of his videos filmed during the school drop-off attracted criticism.Since then, Mr Chapmanlaw has acquired a reputation for 'hunting down' motorists who commit minor traffic or parking offences in Bournemouth and Poole. He often calls drivers who park on zig-zag lines near crossings as 'scumbags' and has shared explosive exchanges with drivers who overtake too close to his bike or park on cycle lanes.Earlier this year, he filmed himself in a confrontation with an Iceland delivery driver he alleged to have overtaken him at close quarters. He has also criticised a disabled woman for parking on yellow lines outside her house and acted as a 'pseudo policeman' by knocking on the window of a female motorist he found was holding her phone as she sat in traffic. The councillor has been dubbed the 'New Cycling Mikey' over his helmet-cam videosMr Chapmanlaw argued that the children could not be identified due to the low resolution he shot the video in.'As you can see nobody is identifiable, its only 720p (on purpose) combine that with the rain droplets on the lens and it is as good as blurred.'I can't even read the reg number of the car in the video never identifying features.'This is just another tactic...to try to prevent me from reporting bad drivers.'If somebody has a genuine issue with the footage I post of course I will remove it. I will not however, act on requests which are based on stuff like this.'If there were safeguarding reasons to remove it.'But I know what I am doing, I went through the video frame by frame before I posted it and again when the comment was make just to make sure there were no identifiable children.'So there are no safeguarding reasons to take it down. AND the school outed themselves, I didn't name the school.'It's weird how this is more of an issue than the continued abuse of the zig zags isn't it?'I know the rules on safeguarding this doesn't break them. I am endangering nobody because nobody is identifiable.'But one mum reacted by posting: 'My children attend this school, and I personally do not feel comfortable you filming it, and not blurring faces, or the school itself, the school is very identifiable, so videos like this are safeguarding issues.'A BCP Council spokesperson said they won't be taking any action against Mr Chapmanlaw. They said: 'We recognise the communities' concerns but understand Mr Chapmanlaw undertakes this activity in a personal capacity.'If anyone did have a complaint against a councillor, we detail our complaints process on the website.'READ MORE: Moment 'hated' cycling vigilante dodges traffic jam by following police car on a 999 callREAD MORE: Meet the new 'Cycling Mikey': The 'self-appointed busybody' road safety vigilante who's caught dozens of drivers committing minor offences... but has he incriminated himself?
