The streamer has a great history of steadily releasing rom-com movies and keeping alive a genre that is often overlooked by major Hollywood studios. This has brought them plenty of success in the past, with Kissing Booth and To All The Boys becoming popular trilogies that connected with Netflix's young adult viewers. The streamer has given subscribers of all ages looking for a bit of romance titles to check out, though, with Your Place or Mine and Office Romance appealing to adults. While rom-coms don't tend to put up as elite viewership figures on Netflix as action movies, crime thrillers, or animated films, many of them turn out to be very successful. 2026 has brought a few strong performers, with The People We Meet On Vacation and Office Romance being among Netflix's most-watched 2026 movies. But Voicemails for Isabelle has been Netflix's biggest rom-com of the year, amassing 84.3 million views since its June debut. Subscribers have watched Voicemails for Isabelle over 165 million hours (or over 9.9 billion minutes) during that span, keeping it in Netflix's top 10 weekly charts for its first seven weeks of release. That's officially the longest stretch for any Netflix rom-com since the streamer started sharing the weekly charts in 2021. Previously, 2025's The Life List had the record at six weeks in the top 10. How Voicemails For Isabelle Stayed In Netflix's Top 10 Longer Than Any Other Rom-Com The unprecedented time spent in Netflix's top 10 charts isn't a fluke for Voicemails for Isabelle. Directed by Leah McKendrick and starring Nick Robinson and rom-com queen Zoey Deutch, the movie is a genuine delight, filled with a sweet story that pulls at the heartstrings, and plenty of good laughs and strong romance — thanks to Deutch and Robinson's chemistry. Netflix Rom-Com Weeks In Top 10 Viewership In Top 10 Voicemails for Isabelle (2026) 7 84.3 million The Life List (2025) 6 82.7 million A Family Affair (2024) 5 79.1 million Mother of the Bride (2024) 5 71.1 million A Perfect Pairing (2022) 5 54.4 million (estimated) That's why Voicemails for Isabelle received very positive reviews. It is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an 88% score from critics, and audiences have loved it nearly as much, generating an 86% rating. That's given the movie strong word of mouth to encourage people to keep checking it out beyond its first three or four weeks, which is when most Netflix original rom-coms start to fall out of the top 10. It also helps that Voicemails for Isabelle has had little to no competition in the rom-com space since its debut. Netflix hasn't dropped another movie in the genre to take attention away from it. Other streamers like Prime Video, Disney+, and HBO Max also have not debuted any new rom-coms to steal the spotlight. There have been no significant new rom-coms in theaters during these seven weeks, too. That will change this week with One Night Only coming out on August 7. It'll be fascinating to see if Voicemails for Isabelle can stay in the top 10 for an eighth week and remain the most in-demand rom-com around. The odds are in its favor, as it's been no lower than fourth place in the top 10 these past seven weeks. With the viewership data that Netflix has made public, Voicemails for Isabelle's top 10 dominance puts it squarely in the mix to be considered the streamer's most successful rom-com. It's confirmed 84.3 million views after seven weeks is surely among the best performances that a Netflix original rom-com has ever had. There's room for it to keep accumulating views during the rest of its initial 91 days on the streamer. The only other Netflix rom-coms that may be more successful than Voicemails for Isabelle either came out before 2021 and have no verifiable viewership data, or they've had more time to build their viewership figures. For example, Netflix has released viewership reports for both halves of the year since 2023 that give a few rom-coms the edge over Voicemails, but they all count viewership beyond three months. Sofia Carson's The Life List earned 118 million views throughout all of 2025. Her next Netflix movie, My Oxford Year, generated 96.1 million views from July 2025 to June 2026. Nicole Kidman, Joey King, and Zac Efron's A Family Affair pulled in 101 million views throughout 2024. There's a good chance Voicemails for Isabelle will put up similar numbers to these titles by the time its first year is done and possibly surpass them all.
