Development only began in 2025 when Halo's screenwriter David Wiener and Roberto Patino came on board. Six years after the announcement of this project, as reported by Matt's Inside Line, filming is complete. It's now time to get it ready for the TV screen as the series enters the post-production phase. Netflix's live-action series isn't the first attempt to take the Assassin's Creed franchise beyond the world of video games. In 2016, Michael Fassbender entered the Animus as Cal Lynch to access the memories of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha, a 15th-century assassin from Spain. According to Netflix, its focal point will be the secret war between two "shadowy factions," — presumably the Templar Order and the Assassin Brotherhood — played out across "pivotal historical events." Beyond that, not much is known about the plot; more is likely to be revealed soon. Shooting for Assassin's Creed took place in Italy and Bulgaria. The series cast includes Lola Petticrew (Say Nothing), Toby Wallace (Euphoria), Zachary Hart (Black Doves), Laura Marcus (Bad Education), Tanzyn Crawford (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), Nabhaan Rizwan (KAOS), and Claes Bang (The Square). There is still no expected release date for Netflix's Assassin's Creed. Post-production is next, and that is when we can expect a trailer and more details.
