Little House on the Prairie announced on its official Instagram account that production for the show is now in full swing as Netflix moves forward with season 2. The social media post gave fans their first behind-the-scenes look at the cast back at work. Posted on Sunday, August 30, 2026, the photos revealed Alice Halsey, Skywalker Hughes, Luke Bracey, and Crosby Fitzgerald filming in their costumes. The actors were also pictured carrying umbrellas as it was raining during the production of Little House on the Prairie season 2. The image gallery was captioned with, “Rain or shine, we’re out here filming! Have you watched Season 1 of Little House on the Prairie yet? If so, we’ve got good news…we’re officially in production on Season 2! We can’t wait to share what’s coming next." The update comes less than two months after Little House on the Prairie season 1 arrived on Netflix. All eight episodes of the first installment were released on the streaming platform on July 9, 2026. Netflix was so confident in the new adaptation's success that it renewed the series for a second season before its debut. The reboot stars Halsey as Laura Ingalls and Hughes as her older sister Mary Ingalls. Bracey takes on the role of Charles “Pa” Ingalls while Fitzgerald portrays Caroline “Ma” Ingalls. The show also features Warren Christie as John Edwards. Additional members of the massive ensemble cast include Jocko Sims (Dr. George Tann), Barrett Doss (Emily Henderson), Meegwun Fairbrother (William Mitchell), Alyssa Wapanatâhk (White Sun), Wren Zhawenim Gotts (Good Eagle), Kowen Cadorath (Caleb), and Mary Holland (Jemma James). The Netflix series arrived over five decades after the original NBC adaptation of Little House on the Prairie first aired in 1974 and ran for nine seasons, concluding its run in 1983.
