Netflix Netflix has released its first trailer for "The Altruists," its upcoming series dramatizing the massive multibillion-dollar fraud scheme that led to the collapse of Sam Bankman-Fried's cryptocurrency empire, FTX.In the eight-episode series, which hits the streaming giant on November 19, Anthony Boyle stars as Bankman-Fried, opposite Julia Garner, who plays Caroline Ellison, a former crypto executive and Bankman-Fried's ex-girlfriend."Over the course of the years that our show depicts, Sam and Caroline, with the very best of intentions, talked each other and themselves into committing a number of terrible crimes," creator and showrunner Graham Moore said.Ellison, who had pleaded guilty to conspiring with Bankman-Fried and served about 11 months in prison, was recently hired at Manifund, a grantmaking platform.Bankman-Fried was sentenced in 2024 to 25 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of all seven counts of fraud and conspiracy.He remains behind bars at a low-security federal prison in California.Federal prison records show Bankman-Fried is projected to be released on Christmas Day in 2043.
