Netflix Debuts ‘Friday Night Lights’-Inspired NFL Pregame Opener Directed By Peter Berg & Narrated By Kyle Chandler: “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose”

Ahead of Thursday’s game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, Netflix released a Friday Night Lights-inspired pregame opener. Directed by Peter Berg and narrated by Kyle Chandler, the clip titled “For the Love of Football” taps into the nostalgia of fans of the film and TV series. The series and film followed the fictional Dillon Panthers as Coach Taylor (Chandler in the series) inspired them to achieve greatness. “And so it begins, right here, right now, today. You are going to win,” Chandler narrates as music similar to the Friday Night Lights theme song plays in the background. “You’ll use your eyes to win. Your eyes will show you the truth. You’ll recognize it whether you like it or not, without wishing you were seeing something else.” Watch on Deadline Chandler’s narration continued, “The truth on the field is never something else. You will not look away. You will feel the truth together in your hearts. Your eyes will see clearly. Your hearts will feel fully.” As the narration continued, images of various NFL teams played alongside young football players and cheerleaders from the Watts Rams youth football program. “You will play with your eyes clear and your heart full. If you can do that, and then do it again and again, I assure you, you cannot lose,” Chandler continued. “Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can’t lose.” The spot is the first of four openers Berg directed for Netflix, which will also stream games on Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Day and Week 18 of the 2026 NFL season.
