NAZA director: Palestinian journalists have documented Gaza truth from day one

Israeli filmmaker Yuval Abraham has said that Palestinian journalists have been documenting truth from the first day of Gaza conflict. “More than 200 of them were killed by Israel in Gaza,” Abraham said at the Venice Film Festival, where he and his fellow filmmaker Rachel Szor received the Special Jury Prize for their documentary NAZA. The film, which examines the Israeli military systems behind the mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, received a record-breaking 24-and-a-half-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival on Thursday. In a video shared by Screen International on X, Abraham said: “Since this festival started, Israel killed at least six Palestinian children in Gaza.” “A three-year-old girl at a school that was bombed, a seven-year-old with her father in the car and two sisters at home sleeping,” he said. “And, you know the Israeli intelligence officers we spoke with talk to us how this mass killing is systemic, not by accident but by design. Actions of murder and policies that are based on total dehumanisation of Palestinians. “I want you to know that this truth has been documented from the first day thanks to Palestinian journalists. Their voices were silenced and denied. We believe that the denial of the crime is what helps it persist. And that is why it is really, really important for us that Israelis watch this film,” he added.
