A MUM hanged her two-year-old son just hours after discussing the Lindsay Clancy case with her pals, it is alleged. Corie Walsh, 38, has been charged with murder after her child was found hanging in the basement of her Illinois home on Tuesday. Emergency responders pronounced the child dead at the scene. An autopsy later confirmed his death was caused by asphyxiation “due to ligature compression of the neck”, according to court documents. She was hospitalized after police determined she had attempted to self-harm, according to a court proffer seen by Fox 32. Later in hospital Walsh admitted to cops how she committed the horror act on her child, the outlet reports. An infant and two school-aged children were inside the home at the time the child was discovered, prosecutors said. All three remained unharmed. She had reportedly been texting friends about the case in a group chat just three hours before her child was found dead. Clancy strangled her three children to death in the basement of her Massachusetts home in January 2023. The 36-year-old admitted to killing five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan, but sought an insanity defense in her case. After a gruelling six-week murder case, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on Friday afternoon when jurors said for a third time they had failed to reach a unanimous verdict. This means she was neither acquitted or convicted, and could be tried again in the future. Court will resume to discuss the further legal proceedings on September 29. As with Clancy’s defense, Walsh’s lawyer said her client was suffering “psychotic episode”. Walsh’s husband was reportedly out of the state when the alleged murder occurred and flew home Tuesday evening. His wife remains in custody and is being held for medical treatment. Once cleared by medical staff, she will be transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility to await a detention hearing. An investigation into the case remains ongoing. Comment now
