MPV as the open-source, cross-platform media player originally based on MPlayer/mplayer2 is finally out with a new release. It's been nearly one year since MPV 0.41, but out tonight is MPV 0.42 with a number of feature enhancements and fixes. MPV 0.42 also adds a libcurl-based network backend for handling HTTP/2 and HTTP/3. Menu navigation for DVD-Video, Blu-ray HDMV, and BD-J content is now supported. DVD-Audio playback is also new to MPV 0.42. MPV 0.42 also enables direct playback of ISO images for DVD-Video / DVD-Audio / Blu-ray media, better Dolby Vision Profile 7 support, support for SRV3 YouTube subtitles, improved HDR colorspace signalling on Linux with the DRM code, and an AMD Frame Rate Conversion Filter.
