She turned to tissue paper and medical tape to make a makeshift pad, documenting the process in a video.Yogeshwari Bohare shared the video on her Instagram account, offering a glimpse into one of the challenges women can face during high-altitude expeditions. In the clip, Bohare stood in front of the camera and explained that her period had started the previous night. With no other women around and another four to five days left at the location, she decided to make do with whatever supplies she had.“I got my period last night, there is no woman here, and I'm the only one. And we still have 4-5 days here. So I'm trying to make a sanitary pad from tissue paper, and doctor tape. I have layered the tissue paper so it is nice and thick,” she said. She then carefully layered several pieces of tissue paper, folded them to create a thicker makeshift pad and used medical tape to secure the edges. Once she had finished putting it together, she held it up to the camera and said, “Let's see if this works.”Sharing the video, Bohare explained that she had to improvise because there were no other women around and no sanitary pads available. “Mountains teach you more than climbing; they teach you how to adapt, survive, and find solutions when things get tough,” she wrote, adding that periods do not pause for expeditions and that women continue to face challenges in the mountains that are rarely discussed.Watch the video here:The video prompted viewers to share advice and encouragement. One user suggested carrying a menstrual cup on future trips, while another stressed the importance of keeping period products on an adventure checklist.A third user praised her resilience, writing, “We bleed, we climb, we survive. That’s the strength of a woman.”- Ends
