More than 100,000 people sign complaint against Fifa boss Gianni Infantino for ‘violating his duty’

MORE than 100,000 people have signed a complaint against Fifa boss Gianni Infantino. The Reboot Fifa campaign has gained massive traction as Infantino, 56, continues to be shrouded in controversy. It has been alleged that the Fifa president has “at a minimum, abused his power, violated his duty of political neutrality, and violated his duty of loyalty.” Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! The Reboot Fifa campaign was launched ahead of the World Cup to highlight the organisation’s perceived failings. Fifa’s decision to overturn USA star Folarin Balogun’s red card saw the campaign grow during the tournament. More recently, the scrapped Fifa Forward Enterprise scheme has now seen the campaign grow to an astonishing 100,000 signatures. The complaint was lodged to Fifa’s ethics committee by Reboot Fifa and advocacy group Fair Square on Tuesday, calling for actions to be taken against Infantino. A letter from Fair Square said: “The fact that 100,000 individuals added their names to this call for accountability is clear evidence of mounting public concern. “As the independent judicial body tasked with the critical task of upholding the ‘integrity and reputation of football,’ the ethics committee must not only act, it must be seen to act with appropriate haste, transparency and rigour.” Most read in Sport SUN VEGAS WELCOME OFFER: GET UP TO £100 BONUS Fifa President Infantino watches the Poland vs Argentina at the U20 Women’s World Cup Credit: Getty Norway‘s football federation publicly backed an initial complaint submitted in December 2025, however, no response was given from the committee. Infantino’s political neutrality has also been called into question following the decision to award Trump with the inaugural Fifa peace prize last year. It comes after growing pressure on the Fifa president after a decade in charge of the organisation. The English FA withdrew its support for Infantino last month, after a similar move from Wales. This was followed by UEFA pursuing criminal legal action over Fifa’s failed plot to sell a stake in the World Cup. But Infantino continues to receive support from Argentina and American president Trump. It has been confirmed that Infantino will stand for re-election in March 2027, after an initial announcement in April. If re-elected, Infantino will serve as Fifa’s president until 2031. Comment now
