Rainfall activity is expected to remain active across several parts of India on Friday, September 4, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rain in parts of north, central and northeastern India.For Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh, the forecast points to another wet day, while Madhya Pradesh could see some of the heaviest spells.DELHI AND NORTH INDIA TO SEE A WET DAYThe IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on September 4. East Uttar Pradesh is also likely to receive fairly widespread rainfall on September 4, while West Uttar Pradesh is expected to see fairly widespread to widespread rain.The forecast comes as a well-marked low-pressure area remains over northeast Madhya Pradesh and nearby areas. (Photo: PTI) The system is expected to move west-northwestwards across southern Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northern Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours, helping sustain rainfall over parts of central and northern India.The IMD has also identified a low to moderate flash-flood risk in some watersheds and neighbourhoods of East and West Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh until 11:30 am on September 4, particularly where soils are already saturated. (Photo: IMD) HEAVY RAIN FROM MP TO NORTHEASTMadhya Pradesh is likely to be one of the main rainfall hotspots on September 4, with heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places forecast across the state.The spell follows intense rainfall in East Madhya Pradesh on September 3, where several locations recorded more than 10 cm of rain. Rajnagar recorded 19 cm, while Khajuraho received 18 cm.Heavy rain is also likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, as well as West Bengal and Sikkim.
