Writing on Telegram yesterday, the Ukrainian navy called the mid-sea clash the “first-ever” battle between sea drones. Filmed aboard a Ukrainian Sargan 3000 USV vessel, the footage shows an M2 Browning .50 machine gun take aim. It then fires across the sea, striking and sinking Putin’s sea drone as empty cartridges tumble from the weapon. Bristling with heavy machine guns, unmanned sea bots can destroy vessels at distances of 2,000 yards and fire between 450–575 rounds per minute. Intelligence gathered by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate detetcted the Russian target – and then fed the information back to the unmanned vessel It is unclear precisely when the dramatic sea clash took place. Just days ago Ukraine hammered Siberian gas plants – which are 2,000 miles from the border – in its deepest strike into Russia to date. The relentless attacks on fuel hubs is shattering Russia’s economy – and has left furious citizens brawling over petrol. Volodymr Zelensky has spurred his forces into buidling some of the world’s most high-tech drones – with the latest invention dubbed “The Sun”. The deadly new drone is creating a vast “kill zone” across the front line – pushing the battlefield towards a stalemate. It can fly up to 190mph – and boasts an almost 100 per cent kill rate. And in August, British-made drones struck Russia for the first time, killing at least six people in the biggest air raid on Moscow in two years. More than 800 flying bots swarmed through the skies and rained hell down on Russia warehouses and factories. Drone warfare has become a defining feature of the Ukraine-Russia war. They are everywhere and do everything, from sinking ships to hauling half-dead soldiers off the battlefield. Experts believe they are the new “kings of war” with defence ministries across the world pouring more cash into developing the deadly bots. Comment now
