THIS is the shocking moment a car flies over a circuit barrier after a 170mph crash during a drag racing championship. The horror high-speed collision took place at the Santa Pod Raceway in Bedfordshire, on Friday. Footage captured him desperately spinning directly into the path of the red car who had no time to brake. The grey car was sent flying into the air and over a circuit barrier as the motors smashed into eachother at high speed. Thankfully the driver of the red car – known as Mr Boost according to race footage – had quickly deployed an emergency parachute. But his car was still thrown into the walls, eventually hitting both sides of the track. The grey car screeched to a halt near a grassy verge as paramedics and track staff came hurtling over to help. The footage then quickly came to an end following the dangerous incident with no knowledge of the drivers’ injuries at the time. Both riders thankfully posted on social media that they had come away largely unscathed from the horror crash. Santa Pod Raceway also confirmed they were miraculously safe and well despite the severity of the incident. A marshal outside the track was also understood to have sustained minor injuries. Santa Pod Raceway said in a statement: “Following yesterday’s incident, we’re pleased to confirm that all parties involved are okay without as much as any broken bones to report. “The safety equipment did exactly what it is designed to do.” One of the drivers, known as Mr Boost, posted on Facebook: “We will be back and will be faster again. It was once used by the USAAF’s 92nd Bomb Group but is now a drag strip.
