Modular's Mojo Language Now Open-Source Following Qualcomm Acquisition

Modular, the AI startup founded by Chris Lattner of LLVM and Swift fame, has open-sourced their Mojo systems programming language! This comes following the recent acquisition of Modular by Qualcomm. Modular had previously open-sourced the Mojo standard library. With the recent Qualcomm acquisition I didn't expect to see much on the open-sourcing side given Qualcomm's mixed history, but following last week's Mojo 1.0 release, Mojo is now available under an Apache 2.0 license. Mojo 1.0 aims to be a production-ready foundation for this language in an AI-driven world. The entire Mojo language as of today is now open-source under the Apache 2.0 license. Modular is also working to bring Mojo to Windows to complement the existing macOS and Linux support. The Mojo language is designed for diverse hardware from CPUs and GPUs to AI accelerators. Those now interested in Mojo due to becoming fully open-source can learn more about the language via MojoLang.org. Mojo is inspired in part by Rust and other modern programming languages. It's possible to call into Python from Mojo and into Mojo from Python. For a GPU kernel example in Mojo: It's super exciting to see Mojo now open-source and given Chris Lattner's continued involvement is destined for more great progress. More details on Modular's Mojo going open-source can be found via Modular.com.
