(photo credit: YOSSI ALONI/FLASH90)SEPTEMBER 1, 2026 13:51A 33-year-old Modi’in Illit man was indicted in the Central District Court on Tuesday for allegedly committing an indecent act against a girl of approximately 12 after offering her a ride and driving her to a nearby forest.The prosecution also asked the court to keep the defendant, Meir Hammami, in custody until the criminal proceedings against him are completed.According to the indictment, Hammami encountered the girl while she was crossing at a pedestrian crossing near the entrance to Modi’in Illit. The two did not know one another.Prosecutors allege that Hammami offered her a ride and, after she entered his vehicle, began asking questions about her and her family.He then allegedly diverted from the route and drove to a nearby forest, where he stopped the vehicle in daylight, exposed himself, and demanded that the girl perform a sexual act.
