Taking place in a new and alternate timeline, Rogue Orbit will allow players to pilot the Gundam Helix as they take on the role of protagonist RE-X. You'll also get a Haro companion and get to experience "cinematic combat." It's basically everything a Gundam fan could ask for, but developers are going a step further by bringing back an absolutely iconic design. Thanks to PlayStation's most recent State of Play broadcast, we've gotten to see more information on Gundam: Rogue Orbit on YouTube. During the portion focused on Japanese studios, we were offered a more in-depth look at the gameplay and customization options the upcoming game will offer. And it was a pleasant surprise to see the RX-78-2 will officially be a part of the new game. The RX-78-2 is an absolute classic Gundam. Fans first got to see Amuro Ray pilot the now-iconic Gundam almost 50 years ago. While its design is a bit more simplistic than the Gundam designs we've seen in the decades since, there's no denying it's a core piece of Gundam history. It's honestly really cool to see that we're going to have the option to control the RX-78-2 when Rogue Orbit launches next year, even if it's just as an official mod skin. The RX-78-2 Is Back For Gundam: Rogue Orbit In the video, which is timestamped and can be viewed above, we can see the RX-78-2 Gundam in action once more. This is an official mod skin the developers have added to Gundam: Rogue Orbit that turns your own unit into the classic Gundam from the original anime (and movie trilogy). It's a pretty cool feature that should really appeal to longtime Mobile Suit Gundam fans. During the State of Play, Gundam: Rogue Orbit's release date was also revealed, as well as more details on the upcoming game's customization and gameplay features. From what's been shown so far, this looks like a pretty excellent game, so hopefully Gundam: Rogue Orbit will be just as cool as seeing the RX-78-2 again.
