‘Miss you so much it’s not even funny’ – Tottenham fans react as Harry Kane wins trophy hours after Brentford humbling

TOTTENHAM fans yearned for Harry Kane after losing 3-0 at Brentford in their Premier League season opener. Roberto De Zerbi‘s side were clearly second best as goals by Keane Lewis-Potter, Vitaly Janelt and Michael Kayode condemned them to an ugly defeat. The England captain, 33, captioned it: “First selfie of the season!” Responding to Kane’s picture, one Spurs fan wrote: “Harry I miss you so much it’s not even funny”. And a second commented: “We need you back at Tottenham”. A third begged: “Please come home I can’t bear richy anymore”. Another added: “Come back and save Tottenham”. The forward has continued to be prolific at Bayern, scoring 146 goals in 148 games. Tottenham, meanwhile, have undergone a summer of change under De Zerbi. Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, Jan Paul van Hecke, Martin Dubravka, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali have all joined, with Savinho on the brink of signing of Manchester City. Despite these reinforcements, De Zerbi was forced to field a side at Brentford with several key men missing. The Italian, 47, said: “I am sorry for this defeat. I know we have to improve in our physical condition, in the organisation. “There were many new players but it was the first game. It’s part of our journey. “With a lot of new players, we knew we needed soul and style of play to become a team. Today I think there was the soul but we didn’t fight in the right way.” Spurs will be back in action on Wednesday night as they host Charlton in the second round of the Carabao Cup. Bayern, meanwhile, kick off their Bundesliga season by hosting Stuttgart on Friday night. Kane has just one year remaining on his contract in Bavaria.
