He handed over a further ₹2 lakh to the family, taking the total financial assistance extended by him to ₹4 lakh.The couple, Jampala Mahesh Kumar and Rajitha, had approached Mr. Venkat Reddy two days earlier, distressed over the medical expenses for their child, who was born with hearing and speech impairments. Doctors had indicated that appropriate treatment could help the child develop the ability to speak, but the family was unable to afford the expenses.Responding to their appeal, the Minister provided immediate financial assistance of ₹2 lakh and personally spoke to doctors to facilitate better treatment.During his visit to the hospital, Mr. Venkat Reddy interacted with the child and the family members and sought details of the child's recovery from the doctors. The doctors informed him that the child could develop the ability to speak in the coming months after completing speech therapy.Mr. Venkat Reddy assured the parents that his support would not end with the medical treatment. He said he would take responsibility for the child's educational expenses in the future, so that financial difficulties would not come in the way of the child's education.
