One of the confirmed stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming X-Men movie directly addressed whether he will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Since the next Avengers movie was first announced, it has widely been regarded as the most highly anticipated film of 2026. The intensity surrounding the upcoming mega crossover event only increased once the Avengers: Doomsday trailers started being released. One of those teases focused on Marvel's mutants, which has left many people wondering how they will be involved. Now, one of the stars of the MCU's upcoming X-Men movie has discussed whether he will be part of Avengers: Doomsday. On October 25, Rolling Stone published footage from a recent interview with Christopher Abbott, the actor who has been cast as the MCU's Charles "Professor X" Xavier. During the clip, he was asked whether he is slated to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. In response, Abbott directly denied that he will appear in the movie and pledged that he wasn't being coy. Check out Abbott's comments below: Rolling Stone: There are a couple of Marvel releases standing between you and an actual X-Men movie. Should we expect to see your shiny head and any cameos? Christopher Abbott: I don't think so. I don't even know what's happening? What do you mean? Rolling Stone: Doomsday. Christopher Abbott: I don't know what's going on. No, I'm not in that. I got to do the X-Men movie first before any of that stuff. Rolling Stone: Famously not how Marvel works. But… Christopher Abbott: Look, no coyness. I'm not in that movie. In August 2026, Abbott was confirmed to join the cast of the MCU's X-Men movie at D23. In the film that is currently slated for a 2028 release, Abbott is set to portray Professor X, the character previously embodied on the big screen by Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy. Anyone who has closely followed the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its casting will be able to understand why Rolling Stone's reporter was skeptical about Abbott's Avengers: Doomsday comments. After all, there is a long history of actors going on the record saying they would not be part of a Marvel movie, only for them to not only appear, but have a pivotal role. Probably the most memorable example of that came in the form of Andrew Garfield repeatedly stating he wouldn't be part of Spider-Man: No Way Home. On the other hand, there are also compelling reasons to think that Abbott and his fellow X-Men actors may have no involvement in the upcoming blockbuster. Based on how massive and star-studded the cast of Avengers: Doomsday already is, it is easy to argue that using it to introduce an entire new mutant team would be overkill. Still, it seems entirely likely that more actors who haven't yet been announced will appear during Avengers: Doomsday. For example, the film feels like the perfect opportunity to bring back other former Marvel superhero actors who haven't been seen in years, as Deadpool & Wolverine previously did. That kind of conjecture is one of many reasons why moviegoers around the world can't wait to see Avengers: Doomsday. Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026. Release Date December 18, 2026 Runtime 165 Minutes Director Anthony Russo, Joe Russo Cast Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic Vanessa Kirby Sue Storm / Invisible Woman Writers Stephen McFeely, Michael Waldron, Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers Producers Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Jonathan Schwartz Prequel(s) Spider-Man: Brand New Day Sequel(s) Avengers: Secret Wars Franchise(s) Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Avengers, Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Thor, X-Men
