MCLAREN have made a subtle change to their logo ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, announcing an “evolved brand identity”. The motorsport giants are one of the most successful manufacturers in racing, and in Formula One alone they are the second-most successful constructor. Part of that is a small but recognisable change to the McLaren wordmark, with the new look seeing the C underlined. Sign up for the Sport newsletter Thank you! This move is inspired by the family workshop signboard of Bruce McLaren in Auckland, New Zealand, which was owned by the McLaren founder’s parents, Les and Ruth, and the location Bruce built the car which would achieve his first racing victory. The change will be rolled out across both McLaren’s racing teams and its automotive divisions. McLaren Racing chief marketing officer, Lou McEwen added: “McLaren has evolved enormously over the years, but looking back through our shared history across Racing and Automotive, it’s poignant how much of Bruce’s original vision and spirit still runs through the business today. “This evolved identity perfectly bridges that proud heritage with our future ambition. “It celebrates the symbols and stories our fans, partners and team mates already know and love, while giving us a more connected expression of where we’re heading next. It feels unmistakeably McLaren.” David Woodhouse, chief creative officer of McLaren Automotive, added in a statement: “There is something uniquely special about McLaren. Drivers Lando Norris – who refused to rule out racing at Le Mans next year – and Oscar Piastri sit in fourth and seventh in the drivers standings. Elsewhere they have announced their intention to return to Hypercar racing in 2027, with a view to winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
