Maura Higgins’ Birkin from ‘Traitors’ co-star Rob Rausch steals the show at ‘DWTS’ — and fans are obsessed

We “tink” this may go down in “Dancing With the Stars” history. Maura Higgins — and her famous Birkin bag — made her ballroom debut on Wednesday during the second night of Season 35’s two-night premiere. The pricey purse first appeared as Higgins and her pro partner, Mark Ballas, began their Foxtrot to “Black Velvet” by Alannah Myles. As Ballas emerged from a coffin during the “Traitors”-themed routine, the choreographer held the burgundy Hermès bag before he tossed it into the audience. The next time it appeared onscreen, Rob Rausch was seen holding the Birkin in the audience alongside Lisa Rinna. The extravagant fashion accessory had the voting details for Higgins and Ballas pinned to it: “Text MAURA 21523.” Maura Higgins made her “Dancing With the Stars” debut during Wednesday’s episode, the second night of a two-night Season 35 premiere event. ABC/Disney+ Higgins’ fellow “Love Island” alum Rob Rausch (seen here) held the bag in the audience. ABC/Disney+ Fans took to social media to express their excitement over the bag getting its moment in the spotlight. “THE BIRKIN HAS MADE ITS FIRST APPEARANCE IN THE BALLROOM #DWTS,” one fan shouted in all-caps, while another added, “Maura dancing with the birkin HELP 😭🤣 #DWTS.” Another added, “Mark Ballas getting out of the coffin with the Birkin in hand during Maura’s dance how can you not say iconic 🤣👏🏽 #DWTS,” while one other said, “rob with text maura to 21523 on the birkin actually brought tears to my eyes i can’t lie #dwts.” Higgins, Ballas, Rausch and Rinna all appeared on the Emmy-winning fourth season of “The Traitors” together earlier this year. Rausch, who got Higgins the pricey purse after he betrayed her in order for him to win “The Traitors,” sat alongside Lisa Rinna in the audience. He went on to make it up for her by securing her a Birkin bag — fulfilling a promise he made to her — with the assistance of Rinna. Not only did Higgins’ Birkin make a splash, but the reality star also earned top scores for her and Ballas’ Foxtrot. The duo earned a score of 21/30 for the routine, placing them atop the leaderboard for the night. Wednesday’s episode saw the female celebrities and their pro partners perform a No. 1 song from the year they were born. At the end of the episode, it was revealed that “Love Thy Nader” star Sarah Jane Nader and her pro partner, Hailey Bills, were eliminated. Following this week’s two-night premiere event, new episodes of “DWTS” will air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+, and will stream on Hulu the following day.
