A graduate of McMaster University, Ryan began his career in public relations before attending Vancouver Film School. There, he built lasting industry connections and optioned a feature film screenplay. New set images suggest Matt Damon's new sci-fi movie will be a wacky one. After headlining Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey (2026), Damon's next movie is set to be a major departure. The actor is confirmed to be starring in the new movie from The Daniels, the directors behind Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022), which is now filming in LA. Though much remains unknown about The Daniels' new movie, which is filming under the working title Thasnagar, new images shared by TMZ tease the kind of hero Damon will be playing. The images, available at the link below, show Damon suited up in a bright red jumpsuit with accompanying armor and helmet, with the costume not unlike that of a Power Ranger. Behind Damon, other characters wear similar armor, but in blue, pink, green, and yellow. Click here to view the images of Matt Damon on the set of Thasnagar. The actor is shown in various superhero-like poses in the images, including one where he is seemingly preparing to blast off into the sky in flight, and another in which he appears to be using some kind of psychic power, with his fist outstretched and two fingers held to his temple. Another image shows Damon smiling and wearing a black tank top between takes. For Damon, the role is obviously a significant shift from The Odyssey. The Nolan epic saw Damon playing Homer's legendary Greek hero Odysseus, a part for which he's earned a great deal of praise. The film is now the biggest hit of Damon's career, earning rave reviews and grossing $1.559 billion worldwide and counting. Not much has been revealed about Thasnagar, but the film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 19, 2027, is reported to be a sci-fi action comedy loosely inspired by Power Rangers. The movie is said to feature time travel elements, taking place both in the 1980s and in the present, with climate change as the central villain. Damon stars in the film opposite Charles Melton and Sandra Oh. The Daniels, comprising Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, previously directed films like Swiss Army Man (2016) and The Death of Dick Long (2019), but it was the acclaimed Everything Everywhere All At Once that really put them on the map. The 2022 sci-fi fantasy action comedy epic starring Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ke Huy Quan, was a surprise hit, grossing $147 million worldwide. On top of holding the title as A24's highest grossing movie (until Backrooms stole the title earlier this year), the film was a critical smash, winning seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Original Screenplay. Everything Everywhere All At Once, then, has set a high bar for The Daniels' new movie. Ryan Gosling was originally supposed to lead the project, but Damon evidently brings a great deal of star power, especially after the success of The Odyssey. With filming now underway, more about Thasnagar may be revealed in the near future.
