Masters Of The Universe RPG Officially Announced

Published Oct 10, 2026, 1:14 PM EDT Ben Brosofsky has been writing for Screen Rant since 2022 and editing since 2024. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor's in Cinema & Media Arts. Writing serves as a much-needed distraction from tackling a backlog of Steam games that will never be surmounted. Like a lot of franchises with the power of nostalgia on their side, Masters of the Universe has been making a big comeback lately. It hasn't all been sunshine and rainbows — the live-action Masters of the Universe film didn't manage to turn a profit at the box office — but fans are still getting plenty of new material to enjoy. From Mattel Brick Shop toy sets to multiple comic book series, there's no shortage of releases based on the campy adventures of He-Man and company. Now, a new RPG makes it possible to side with either the Heroic Warriors or Skeletor and his allies in a duel over the iconic location of Castle Grayskull. Rather than releasing as a standalone game, Masters of the Universe: Battle for Grayskull made its debut in Roblox this week. As a live-service platform for custom games, Roblox has spawned hits like Grow a Garden, Dress to Impress, and 99 Nights in the Forest, with its popularity continuing to grow two decades after its initial release. The official page for Battle for Grayskull advertises the scope of the RPG, promising players the opportunity to traverse the land of Eternia "from the halls of Subternia to the shadows of Snake Mountain." As they take on the game's various challenges as either a Heroic Warrior or Evil Warrior, they'll progress in a standard RPG fashion, leveling up, unlocking skills, and building their character's strengths to their own tastes. In typical Roblox fashion, Battle for Grayskull features simplistic, cartoony graphics, but that isn't necessarily out of place for a Masters of the Universe tie-in. The choice of format also makes the game easily accessible to a huge audience, requiring no up-front investment and reaching Roblox users across PC, consoles, and mobile. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, though, as Roblox has received heavy scrutiny in recent years for perceived child safety concerns. In response, the platform has instated new age verification systems and additional safety controls, but its very nature as an online platform with a young audience requires a certain degree of parental vigilance regardless. For those interested in a more traditional Masters of Universe gaming experience, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction is also on the way. This beat 'em up embraces a pixel art style similar to classic 80s arcade games and 16-bit consoles, giving it an extra dose of throwback appeal for long-term fans of the franchise. Originally slated to release earlier this year, Dragon Pearl of Destruction has been delayed to an unknown date, making Battle for Grayskull the only new option that Masters of the Universe fans can actually play right now.
