Marvel Officially Unveils New X-Force Roster. All Members and Powers

Sign in to your ScreenRant account X-Force has been one of the cornerstones of Marvel’s X-Men landscape since Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld created the team in 1991’s The New Mutants #100. X-Force Vol. 1 launched shortly afterward, with Nathan Summers, a.k.a. Cable, leading that version of the team and many of the later ones. That includes the group currently being spotlighted in Inglorious X-Force, with the lineup including Archangel, Hellverine, Boom-Boom, and Ms. Marvel. However, now that book has thrown an additional X-Force roster into the mix. Cable has been plagued by partial amnesia during Inglorious X-Force’s run, and this has since been explained by him being controlled by a “sinister power.” When his longtime ally Domino noticed he was behaving strangely, Cable wiped her memory and sent her on her way. Found in a dazed state by Shatterstar, another friendly face in her life, Domino’s memories were restored thanks to a “combination of healing techniques,” so she remembered how Cable attacked her. Maria So while Inglorious X-Force’s primary version of the team is still dealing with the latest incarnation of the Mutant Liberation Front, led by influencer Kali Sez, now a second X-Force has formed to confront Cable and uncover the truth behind his unsettling actions. Domino, made her first appearance through a cameo in 1992’s X-Force #8, followed by a full debut three issues later. Domino officially joined the team in issue #29, succeeded Cable as leader during the periods when he was gone, and has served on most other versions of X-Force since then. As such, she and Cable are close both professionally and personally, with their history including working together in the Wild Pack prior to X-Force, and even being romantically involved for a time. Domino, who ranks as one of the best X-Force heroes, has the mutant ability of probability manipulation. This means she can project a “psionic aura” that tweaks the probabilities of events and actions around her in improbable, but not impossible ways. This gives her the gift of “good luck” and her enemies “bad luck,” although it’s a passive ability that only kicks in when she’s in danger or in a situation that could have multiple outcomes. Domino is also a gifted fighter and marksman. Shatterstar Marvel Comics As one of the original X-Force members, Gaveedra-Seven, a.k.a. Shatterstar, hails Mojoworld a century in the future. Upon being transported to present day Earth for a mission in The New Mutants #99, he briefly clashed with Cable and the New Mutants, but then allied with them when they agreed to help them overthrow Mojo. Although initially depicted as a genetically-engineered human, Shatterstar later learned that he’s the mutant son of Longshot and Dazzler, though he wiped their memories of his birth to ensure his upbringing in the future stayed the same. Along with his enhanced physical capabilities from genetic engineering on Mojoworld, Shatterstar’s mutant ability allows him to control the frequencies of electricity and generate bioelectric vibratory shock waves. However, he doesn’t break out this power often because it exhausts him. His bioelectric nature was later revealed to be one aspect of a larger teleportation ability that lets him transport himself and others across distances and into other dimensions. Warpath Marvel Comics Originally inheriting the Thunderbird moniker first used by his late brother, John, James Produstar was introduced in The New Mutants #16 as an enemy to the title team through his affiliation with Emma Frost’s Hellions. However, upon learning the true circumstances of John’s death during his brief stint with the X-Men, James abandoned his revenge quest, joined the New Mutants, and took the name Warpath when he helped found the original X-Force. He’s also been part of the X-Corporation and Weapon X. Just like John, James’ mutant ability boosts his physical abilities to superhuman levels, including strength, speed, reflexes, agility, and senses. He can also heal from injuries faster than a normal human, and he’s even. These powers pair nicely with his combat training, as well as the Apache hunting and tracking skills he learned growing up. In battle, Warpath wields two vibranium bowie knives that Storm gave to him. Rictor Marvel Comics After being introduced in 1987’s X-Factor #17 as a captive of the anti-mutant group The Right, and then serving on the New Mutants, Julio Richter, a.k.a. Rictor, was the second X-Force member after the founding lineup was established, following Siryn. Rictor joined X-Factor Investigations to solve crimes committed by and against mutants after his powers were taken away during the House of M event, though Scarlet Witch eventually restored them. He also has a romantic history with Shatterstar, and together they shared the first male-male kiss in a mainstream Marvel Comics book. Rictor can manipulate and generate seismic energy, which includes seismic waves that can make living and animate objects shatter or crumble. When used over a large enough area, this effect resembles an earthquake, though the character is cautious when using this ability in a tectonically-unstable area. When his power was reactivated, Rictor’s power also evolved to the point where he can manipulate earth, magma, and plants, and he also feels an empathic bond with the life force energies on Earth. Pug-Smasher Marvel Comics Hailing from Earth-8311, where Spider-Ham and other animal-themed versions of Marvel heroes and villains live, Karl Snortenthau, a.k.a. Pug-Smasher, is that world’s heroic take on Earth-616’s Flag-Smasher. First appearing in 2018’s Shatterstar #1, Pug-Smasher was exiled to the main Marvel universe during a fight with Thanhorse. He became acquainted with Shatterstar at Manor Crossing, a home for refugees from other universes. He’s also the only one of the characters shown at the end of Inglorious X-Force #8 to have never served on an X-Force team before now. It’s unclear what powers Pug-Smasher has, if any. If he’s like the original Flag-Smasher, then the latter is most likely, and he instead shines as a skilled fighter and strategist, along with carrying a large mace. Since he was primarily used for comedic effect in the Shatterstar limited series, it remains to be seen if that will continue being his chief role in Inglorious X-Force, or if this book will let him shine as a more traditional superhero as he and his allies on this X-Force team investigate Cable.
