Map predicts when 35C heatwave high will hit London this week

London is set to swelter yet again as a fifth heatwave brings potential highs of 35C later this week. WX Charts is forecasting highs of 26C across Monday and Tuesday following a very warm weekend. The mercury will then hit 29C on Wednesday, before rising to a scorching 34C on Thursday. According to the forecaster, London could see a maximum temperature of 35C at 5pm on Friday, before the heat eases into the weekend. WX Charts heatwave mapWX ChartsIf the weather forecasts prove correct, London will see its fifth heatwave this summer, following on from the driest July on record and record-breaking temperatures in May earlier this year. The capital has been in drought since July 29, with fields and parks turning into tinderboxes, driving up the wildfire risk. More than 25 million people have restrictions on water use as utilities keep a close eye on resources amid the heatwave. Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan said: “On Wednesday, probably the Midlands, maybe a little bit further south, the M4 corridor, west of London, up towards the Midlands, is where we might have a small chance of reaching 36C in one or two spots.“But Thursday at this stage looks the most likely hottest day of the week.“So 36C is a fairly reasonable probability locally on Thursday and there’s a small chance it could get even higher than that.”A UK Health Security alert is in place until August 11, when temperatures are expected to reach 26C. But another alert could be likely if the forecast for Thursday stays around 34C. Health officials have warned of the effect on vulnerable people in the upcoming hot weather, with significant impacts possible in health and social care settings and a potential rise in deaths because of the heat.
