Here is SunSport Manchester United reporter Katherine Walsh’s verdict on the Red Devils’ transfer window so far… KEY SIGNING YOURI TIELEMANS has the potential to be the pound-for-pound signing of the summer. Manchester United triggered Tielemans’ £35million release clause last month and Aston Villa might otherwise have asked for double that. The Belgium captain, 29, brings the experience United’s midfield needed after Casemiro’s exit — boasting 244 Prem appearances and goals in finals for both Leicester and Villa. WHAT’S MISSING OR STILL NEEDS TO BE DONE? Andrey Santos and the incoming Carlos Baleba rounded out the midfield rebuild, but a left-back to compete with Luke Shaw is a priority as United return to the Champions League after two seasons out. Shaw, 31, is entering the final year of his deal and it will be difficult for him to handle the workload alone, even if right-backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui fill in at times. Ideally, United would sell Joshua Zirkzee and sign proper support for Benjamin Sesko. Meanwhile United have also revamped their goalkeeping depth with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir loaned out and Radek Vitek sold, with free agent Karl Darlow arriving from Leeds to back up Senne Lammens. VERDICT United are in a distinctly better position than previously, having shifted on major wages. Carrick has a younger, more athletic midfield core, a clear tactical direction and recruitment built on top-four stability. But as the defeat at the weekend showed, the pressure could quickly ramp up if the new arrivals take time to gel.
