MANCHESTER UNITED have opened contract talks with Bruno Fernandes after their skipper received a mega proposal from Galatasaray. The Turkish champions offered the 31-year-old midfielder around £18.3million-a-year tax free, but Fernandes wants to remain at Old Trafford. Fernandes signed his current deal in 2024 and his £57m release clause for overseas clubs expired last month. United plan to reject any offer for Fernandes and have not received any concrete contact over the Prem Player of the Season. Galatasaray were intending to table around a £42.8m offer for Fernandes, who turns 32 next month. Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has been overseeing the audacious bid and is determined to sign Fernandes. The Turkish giants are understood to be willing to give the United captain a four-year contract worth £18.3m annually, plus a further £3m up-front signing-on bonus. Turkey’s tax system means Fernandes could double his current take-home pay if he made the switch.
