PAManchester City were beaten on Pep Guardiola’s return as Paris Saint-Germain earned a richly-deserved 4-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium. In a roller-coaster Champions League affair, the holders were a goal up inside 13 minutes when Desire Doue opened the scoring, before Ousmane Dembele nodded home a second in as many minutes. It was three when Vitinha lashed home, and the Ligue 1 side were cruising at the interval. Enzo Maresca made three changes at the break, and those substitutes worked as Erling Haaland hauled one back on 53 minutes with a glancing header, which made him City’s top scorer in the Champions League, moving ahead of Sergio Aguero on 37 goals.Maghnes Akliouche’s effort was spilled over the line by Gianluigi Donnarumma to re-establish the visitiors’ three-goal cushion, but another Haaland strike halved the deficit once more. Ferran Torres failed to make it five against his former club as he fluffed a penalty, as Donnarumma made amends for his earlier error.
