The news was a big blow to Spurs, who had been expecting the former Sheffield United player to arrive for a medical. Now they are looking at the cut-price option of signing Mykhailo Mudryk on loan from Chelsea. Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi worked with Mudryk at Shakhtar Donetsk and expressed support for him during his ban for failing a drugs test. After Tottenham and Chelsea met in a pre-season friendly in Sydney, De Zerbi described the Ukraine international as “my son”.
