Man, 41, dies after crashing into tree during police chase involving marked car

A MAN has died after his car hit a tree following a police chase involving a marked car. Officers in a marked police vehicle were informed of a grey Audi driving without its lights on in High Street South in Dunstable shortly before 10.30pm on Saturday, according to the force. At around 10.37pm, the Audi left the road and hit a tree near Caddington, police said. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! No other vehicles were involved in the collision. Officers conducted first aid and were supported by emergency service, but the driver was pronounced dead shortly before 11.30pm. Following the incident, Bedfordshire Police made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which has since launched an investigation.
