His parents followed him and spent nearly three hours trying to persuade him to come home. Police, villagers and fire brigade personnel also joined the rescue effort, but Kunal kept moving along the edge of the hill, making it difficult for them to reach him.Around 1 pm, Kunal jumped from the hill. His father tried to grab him but lost his balance and fell as well. Sangita, who witnessed her husband and son fall, also jumped from the hill, according to police. All three died in the incident. Meanwhile, Sheroo remained inside the family home for three days, seemingly unaware of the tragedy that had unfolded.Although people had managed to provide him with some food and water during those three days, his condition had deteriorated as he remained confined inside, waiting for the people he knew to return.Whenever he heard someone approaching the door, Sheroo would rush towards it, seemingly hoping that his owner had come back. The emotional wait finally ended when Kunal’s grandfather arrived at the house. As soon as Sheroo saw him, the dog immediately clung to him. The elderly man comforted Sheroo and began hand-feeding him food and water, leaving those present visibly emotional.Members of the Pet Lovers Association also reached the spot to help rescue Sheroo. With the grandfather’s assistance, the team managed to bring the dog safely out of the house.Watch the video here:As Sheroo was placed into the rescue van, his grandfather was seen with tears in his eyes, watching the dog being taken to safety.Association representative Barel Sanchis said Sheroo, who had remained confined inside the house for three days, had now been safely rescued. However, the Pet Lovers Association has appealed to the public to help find him a permanent home. The association said Sheroo cannot remain at the shelter indefinitely and urged a compassionate individual or family to come forward, adopt him and give him a new home and family after the devastating loss he had just endured.(With inputs from Israruddin Chishty)- EndsPublished By: Yashna TalwarPublished On: Aug 24, 2026 16:03 IST
