The upcoming collaboration between Magic: The Gathering and Star Trek is coming soon, and while some cards have been shown off already, there is one big one that many of the fans have been holding their collective breath for. This collaboration was announced a year ago and will be launched to help celebrate the 60th anniversary of Star Trek, with a full set of cards themed after the sci-fi series, covering all the favorite shows and characters. The Universes Beyond subset of Magic: The Gathering cards is designed to feature characters, stories, and more from properties outside of the traditional MTG worlds. This includes the popular sets featuring The Hobbit, Doctor Who, and even Final Fantasy. Now, MTG is boldly going where no one has gone before as they celebrate 60 years of Star Trek history. And one very important card is confirmed to be included. Magic: The Gathering - Star Trek Will Feature A Tribble Card Everyone's favorite fuzzy extra-terrestrials will be featured in Magic: The Gathering's Star Trek crossover set. The card hasn't been revealed yet, but Principal Magic Designer Gavin Verhey confirmed at Gamescom last month that it is coming. Speaking in an interview with Wargamer, he not only confirmed the card exists, but added that it's one of his favorites in the set. Tribbles are the adorable little blobs of fur that caused havoc to the characters of Star Trek: The Original Series in a 1967 episode called "The Trouble With Tribbles." Although cute, these little furballs breed incredibly quickly, eventually causing Captain Kirk to become a bit buried in an avalanche of Tribbles. They have since appeared in many other Star Trek shows, films, and even video games like Star Trek: Armada II, in part due to how beloved they instantly became by the fanbase. MTG X Star Trek Set Will Release This November This out-of-this-world Star Trek set for Magic: The Gathering will launch in just a couple of months, on November 13, 2026, with pre-release events scheduled for between November 6–12 at local game stores. Players on the digital MTG Arena will get access to the full set a few days earlier, on November 10. The set covers stories and characters from 60 years of Star Trek into one single product line, which means not everything and everyone will get to be included. 60 years is a lot of history to cover, and MTG will likely feature only the most iconic characters and moments. And yes, thankfully that will include the infamous Tribble-themed card that we are all so excited to get a look at when Magic: The Gathering X Star Trek releases this November.
