MacBook Neo 2 is coming, and Apple reportedly expects a massive hit

Apple has a MacBook Neo 2 planned for early 2027, per Mark Gurman, and a new report from Digitimes indicates the company is expecting it to be a massive hit. Apple planning on MacBook Neo sales doubling next year, per report When the MacBook Neo debuted earlier this year, it became an instant hit. Driven primarily by MacBook Neo, Apple set a new record for its best ever sales week among first-time Mac buyers. But as popular as the first MacBook Neo has proven, it sounds like Apple is planning for its successor to be an even bigger hit. Aaron Lee writes at Digitimes: Apple has given suppliers a shipment forecast of 16 million MacBook Neo units for 2027, about double the nearly 8 million units expected in 2026, according to supply-chain sources. 16 million units for 2027 is a huge increase from MacBook Neo’s 2026 numbers. A small portion of that increase can be attributed to the MacBook Neo being on sale for longer in 2027. The original Neo arrived in March 2026, so 2027 will have the advantage of January and February sales. But those two extra months can’t come anywhere close to accounting for the doubling of units. Especially since they’re slower periods for consumer electronics sales. With reporting pointing to a MacBook Neo 2 launching in early 2027, it sounds like Apple is confident the Neo will prove even more popular in the year ahead.
