A MAJOR UK motorway has been closed after a serious crash with drivers heading to Heathrow and Gatwick Airport facing huge delays. The M25 is shut in Surrey between J10, Wisley and J11, Chertsey following the crash at 11.55pm yesterday night. Surrey Police are on scene and have warned drivers travelling to Heathrow and Gatwick Airport to allow extra travel time as delays are expected. Motorists have been advised to use diversion routes. Emergency services are in attendance and traffic cameras show queues of vehicles on the road. The road will be closed for a number of hours to allow a thorough investigation to take place. National Highways Traffic Officers are in attendance assisting with traffic management. The A245 (Parvis Road) is also closed in both directions. The northbound carriageway between J10 towards J11 has since been reopened but delays still remain. A spokesperson said: “If this impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time.” The force said in a statement earlier: “The M25 is currently closed both ways between J10, Wisley and J11, Chertsey due to a serious collision. “If travelling to Heathrow Airport or Gatwick Airport, please check your travel time before you depart as your journey is likely to be impacted.”
