Londoners are finally seeing some reprieve after a punishing few weeks in the scorching heat. Though temperatures look to be cooling off over the next few days, there one thing that many Londoners are hoping for: rain. The hot summer heat has turned London’s parks into tinderboxes, with heightened wildfire threats in place across the capital’s open spaces. As much as two thirds of the country is now in drought and around 23 million people are under a hosepipe ban. BBC Weather is forecasting a possible imminent downpour, with a 41% chance of rain expected on Monday night through to Tuesday morning. Light rain showers are possible between 1am and 6am before temperatures rise once again to around 25C. Tuesday night is expected to be dry, but Wednesday morning could see some scattered rain showers at 8am and 11am, according to BBC Weather. The chance of rain will then drop to between 7% and 14% for most of Thursday, before rising to 41% on Friday night. Temperatures will stay around 22C - a welcomed drop from 30C-plus highs last week. London could be set for a series of drizzly showers from 5pm to around 10pm on Friday, with temperatures hovering around21C. The Met Office is forecasting a dryer few days than its counterparts, with the chance of rain only rising above 10% at 11pm on Tuesday night. The forecaster has predicted rainy showers in the early hours of Wednesday morning between 1am and 2am, ahead of another warm 24C day. Friday looks set to be another dry day, although the chance of rain will rise above 30% for most of the day. AccuWeather is forecasting a cloudy end to August. Tuesday is set to be the cloudiest of the days and the only day with less than 10% chance of rain (9%), while Wednesday will see some sunny spells and highs of 23C through most of the day. It says there is a 57% chance of rain on Thursday, with a 90% likelihood of precipitation on Friday. AccuWeather is also predicting a wet weekend, with scattered showers on Saturday, though the chance of rain will drop to 1% by Monday. The 10-day forecast also gives a glimpse into next weekend which is also set to be cloudy and wet with highs of around 23C.
