Sign in to your TheGamer account Marvel Rivals season ten starts on Friday, and the first new character coming with it will be almost certainly be Gorr the God Butcher. NetEase hasn’t officially confirmed that yet, nor shown off how the villain will look in-game. Instead, it has teased Gorr’s arrival via some pretty unique marketing. Loki Is Missing If you’re a Loki main and you boot Rivals up right now, prepare yourself for an unwelcome surprise. The God of Mischief has been removed from the roster. Loki’s usual spot has been replaced with a grey poster that has the word “Missing” written on it in an Asgardian font. The first to share the news about Loki’s sudden disappearance appear to be taking part in a marketing campaign. Rivals insider mmmmmmmmiller was among the first to share the news, and the Dexerto post alerting the Rivals’ community to Loki’s sudden disappearance has a “paid partnership” tag, confirming this is indeed part of a marketing campaign for season ten. Since those posts are a part of the act, they can’t speculate on what exactly is going on here. The wider Rivals community can, though, and they have already pieced together that Loki has gone missing because the Rivals team is suggesting that Gorr has killed him. Gorr Is Coming For Rivals' Gods Disney/Marvel If you have read the comics or seen Thor: Love and Thunder (it’s a good movie, don’t let the masses tell you otherwise), then you’ll know killing gods is kind of Gorr’s whole thing. I mean, even if you haven’t, the man refers to himself as a God Butcher. If there are gods around, Gorr is going to want to kill them, and Marvel Rivals has a few. That raises the question of whether anyone else is at risk of being removed from the Rivals roster ahead of season ten. The next logical target would be Loki’s brother, Thor. Hela, who is related to Thor and Loki in various ways between the comics and the movies, is also at risk. Angela might also be a target, and we could even see Storm taken out. Although technically an omega-level mutant, she is often referred to as a god in the comics. She also yells “Feel the wrath of the goddess” when using her Ult. Gorr won’t like that. The good news is even though Loki has been removed from the roster in most Rivals modes, he is still available in competitive. A cool way to tease Gorr’s arrival, but a wise decision not to annoy people who play Rivals for sport. There’s no word on when Loki will return, assuming he will be back at all. Maybe this is how the Rivals devs remedy what is quickly becoming an extremely bloated roster - by introducing a character that kills a few of them off now and again. Cue Thanos showing up in season 20 to snap his fingers and delete half the roster.
