When Lizzo posed for the summer 2025 cover of Women’s Health, she made one thing abundantly clear: She loves her body at every size. Yes, she had recently “released” (her word) weight and gained strength working with personal trainer Marvin Telp, but the 38-year-old also acknowledged the possibility that she could gain that weight back in the future—and that it would be just fine with her.“It’s okay to gain weight after you’ve released weight, because what you’re not going to do is shame me if my body changes again,” she said at the time.Flash forward to now, and Lizzo’s body has changed. She’s about 20 pounds heavier, she tells Women’s Health, and she feels great. “Gaining weight this past year has been an incredible experience for me,” she says. “It's made me feel sexier.”That’s the thing about our bodies: They fluctuate. And, so do our workout routines right alongside them. Here’s the latest on Lizzo’s.Today, Lizzo’s workouts are all about function and recovery. After sustaining an unspecified (and minor, she says!) injury earlier this year, Lizzo has had to take it a bit easier during her workouts. “I'm healing, but that injury has made it so that I can't be a beast in the gym like I was last year,” she says.In place of her former high-intensity lifting workouts, Lizzo is now focusing on functional movements with her physical therapist, whom she trains with twice a week. Using bands or light weights, the two move through a battery of exercises that include chest presses, squats, monster walks, bird dogs, and dead bugs to hit arms, legs, and core, and rebuild her strength. Outside of the gym, Lizzo does yoga and meditation daily—“non-negotiables,” she calls them. Her routine certainly looks different, favoring lighter weights and lower-impact activities like stretching, swimming, and walking as she waits to heal. But, Lizzo is just as committed to today’s workouts as she was to the ones of her past. “I'm determined,” she says. “That's one thing about me, even with an injury that would've taken me out the game, I'm like, ‘No, no, no, I'm still going to work. I'm going to get better.’”Plus, she’s gearing up to go back to the weight room full-force soon. “I told my trainer already, ‘I'm going to be ready for beast mode come December,’” she says.Right now, she has her sights set on a 5K.Yup, Lizzo is getting in on the running boom too. While her dream is to run the race, she’s not currently cleared by her trainer to do so because of her injury. Ideally, she can run/walk it, but again, she’s thinking about the bigger picture and being thoughtful about how hard she pushes herself. “I have a big year ahead of me, so I need to be in tip-top health,” she says.To that end, Lizzo walks at least three times a week in preparation. She hits the 3.1-mile distance frequently at home and even when traveling. She does all her workouts in Yitty.Looking the part is a huge motivating factor for getting herself to the gym, the walking path, or the pool. “It's like dressing for success,” she says. “It's not for anyone else. It's for myself.”She’s had her line Yitty by Fabletics since 2022, with her latest edit of activewear and loungewear staples dropping just last week. Her favorite piece from the collection? Anything in the signature rib fabric. “When I'm walking by the mirror in the gym, and I catch a glimpse of me in that Yitty, it literally changes my entire mood,” she says.Shop the New Lizzo EditThough she’s a shapewear and activewear mogul, Lizzo takes a “to each their own” approach to dressing for the gym. If you want to dress up, go for it. If you want to wear a grunge fit, that’s cool too. Lizzo’s going to go all-out—and show some skin. “Sorry, Shane Gillis, but maybe I'm a w***e at the gym because I like to look sexy,” she says. “I know that there's a lot of people who are like, that doesn't matter. They just throw the clothes on. But no, baby, I need to feel my fantasy.” Once again, Lizzo proves that sweat and self-confidence go hand-in-hand.Amy Wilkinson is a contributing entertainment editor at Women's Health, where she edits the magazine's celebrity cover stories and writes health features. She has previously held editor titles at Entertainment Weekly and MTV News. In 2021, Amy completed her 600-hour teacher-training at Core Pilates NYC to become a comprehensively trained Pilates instructor.
