NBC has handed a full 18-episode season order to its Monday night freshman drama hit Line of Fire. It’s not a surprise. The drama, starring Peter Krause and Hope Davis, about a family of federal law enforcement agents entangled in a mystery, is one of the breakout stories of the fall. After a strong launch and week-to-week ratings gains following its Sept. 21 premiere, it became the first new 2026-27 broadcast series to get a back order of 5 additional scripts earlier this month. The drama drew strong cross-platform average viewership of more than 14 million to the Sept. 21 pilot. It increased its demo rating by 47% in week 2 and rose to a season-high demo in the most recent Oct. 19 episode in live + same day, according to the network and Nielsen stats. Watch on Deadline Line of Fire also has seen NBC’s best DVR lift for a premiere episode in more than three years, since the Night Court reboot in January 2023, according to the network. Created and written by Joshua Safran, in Line of Fire, a family of law enforcement agents bridges personal differences and crosses professional boundaries as they tackle cases for the FBI, US Marshals, Secret Service and Department of Justice. After a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy, they must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting civilians and politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice … even if it means betraying their sworn code. In addition to Krause and Davis, cast includes Kat Cunning, Tommy O’Brien, Taylor Bloom, and Charlie Barnett. Safran executive produces with Jenna Bush Hager and Ben Spector. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Line of Fire airs on Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT and next day on Peacock.
