LEGO is re-releasing its Lord of the Rings Grond set, adding it back to its collection for a limited time only. However, there is one major catch. Collectors and fans can only receive the discontinued merchandise if they purchase the massive Minas Tirith set, which comes with a hefty price. The LEGO Lord of the Rings Grond set recreates the giant battering ram used by Sauron’s forces during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The weapon, designed to resemble a wolf, is used by the Orc army to break through the Great Gate of Minas Tirith. LEGO The 307-piece LEGO replica includes the battering ram and its wheeled structure, along with two Orc minifigures. Instead of being sold as a conventional retail set, Grond is a LEGO Gift with Purchase product. These types of items are included with qualifying purchases for limited periods and generally can't be purchased separately through LEGO. Getting Grond, however, comes at a cost. The set it accompanies, LEGO The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith, costs $649.99. The 8,278-piece model is the largest LEGO set for the franchise released to date. It recreates Gondor's famous White City across multiple levels, drawing inspiration from its appearance in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King was the final film in the original trilogy for the beloved adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien books. The film brings the struggle in Middle-earth to its climax as Sauron prepares to destroy the remaining kingdoms of Men. While Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) continue their dangerous journey toward Mount Doom with Gollum (Andy Serkis) as their guide. The epic final also featured a star-studded ensemble cast.
